NIFT conducts its own entrance exam. The CAT (Creative Aptitude Test), GAT (General Ability Test), and GD/PI are all part of the NIFT 2023 Entrance Exam. Those for B.Des and M.Des must take both the CAT and the GAT, whilst candidates for B.F Tech and M.F Tech must only take the GAT. Candidates for B.Des and M.Des will also be subjected to a Situation Test.
NIFT 2023 will be conducted for 2 hours for B.Des & M.Des and 3 hours for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech. There are 5 sections, namely Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical and Logical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

Over the course of three years, this programme will produce India's first ever indigenous fashion and retail forecast. The project is projected to help a wide spectrum of clothing and textiles companies.
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, USA, had formed a strategic collaboration with NIFT. The collaboration is a watershed moment for NIFT, as it is the first of its type. This new international dimension provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a select group of NIFT students to earn a Dual Degree from both NIFT and FIT.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology Mumbai curriculum cultivates a design sensibility that strikes a balance between global fashion aesthetics and an Indian soul.
